Charles Killackey Obituary

Charles H. Killackey, 76, of Chapel Street in Lee, died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. He was born in Pittsfield on January 21, 1934, the son of Kenneth and Margaret Hardiman Killackey. A life long resident of Lee, he attended Lee High School where he was a member of the 1953 State Championship Basketball Team. He served in the United States Marines during the Korean War. Following the war he served as a guard at the Clarksville Base in Clarksville, TN. He was a Custodian in the Lee Public Schools for many years. Mr. Killackey was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He leaves his wife of 56 years, the former Jean Adams. They were married on October 13, 1954. He also leaves three Sons; Kevin C. Killackey of Lee, Charles K. Killackey of Delray Beach, FL and Shawn D. Killackey of Lee. Two daughters; Kathleen J. O'Leary and her husband Thomas of Housatonic, MA and Colleen Newton and her husband Roger Jr. of Lee, MA. His thirteen grandchildren; Christopher, Eric, Jessica, Ian, Reshawna, Katie, Keith, Kelsey, Kurt, Ariel, Sarah, Josh and Matthew and twelve great grandchildren. He is predeceased by another son John Adams Killackey who died August 16, 1986 a brother Kenneth Killackey and a sister Sally Killackey. Funeral Services for Charles Killackey will be Friday at 11 am at the Kelly Funeral Home with the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery with the Rev. Daniel Pascucci officiating. Visiting hours will be on Thursday evening from 4-8pm at the Funeral Home. Friends wishing may make donations in his memory to Lyme Disease Research Fund or the John Adams Killackey Scholarship Fund in C/O the Kelly Funeral Home 3 Main Street Lee, MA 01238.
