Anne M. Sparks, 73, of Quiet Knoll Road, Stockbridge, MA, passed away peacefully at her home on November 16, 2013. She was born in Pittsfield, MA on September 12, 1940, the daughter of William and Katherine Rathbun Meagher. Anne was educated in Stockbridge Schools. She was a 1958 graduate from Williams High School and a 1962 graduate of The College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee. After graduation, she taught at South Jr. High School in Pittsfield, MA. She joined her mother in 1964 at the Katherine Meagher Dress Shop in Stockbridge, which she owned and operated for 41 years until her retirement in 2005. Anne was an appointed member of the Stockbridge Board of Registrars for many years. She enjoyed reading, knitting, golf and swimming. Her most cherished times were spent with her family. Anne was also a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Stockbridge. Anne and her husband, Nelson "Skip" Sparks, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 13, 2013. In addition to her husband, Anne is survived by two sons; David W. Sparks (Susan Bell) of Longmeadow, MA, Steven M. Sparks (April) of Apex, NC, and two daughters; Michelle S. Kuo (Lawrence Kuo) of Gwynedd Valley, PA and M. Katherine Killiard (Robert) of Sheffield, MA. She also leaves six grandchildren; Iain, Anna, Grace, Paige, William, and Asher. She is predeceased by her brother, Atty. Michael Meagher and her grandson, Robert Nelson Killiard. The funeral for Anne will be held Thursday, November 21 at 9:15 AM from the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main Street, Lee, MA with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church, Stockbridge. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Stockbridge. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, November 20 at the funeral home from 4-7 PM. Memorial donations in Anne's memory may be made to The Stockbridge Library in care of the funeral home.
