Barbara A. Tanner, 78, of Old Stockbridge Rd. in Lenox, died Saturday at her home with her family at her side. She was born in Orange, New Jersey on March 21, 1936, the daughter of Gregory and Helen Mae O'Neil Lloyd. She was educated in the Lenox Schools and was 1953 graduate of Lenox High School. She and her late husband Richard H. Tanner, whom she married February 11,1956, owned and operated Tanner's Market in Lenox Dale from 1972 until 1995. Dick died May 22, 2010. She was a communicant of St. Vincent dePaul Church in Lenox Dale and former member of the Greenock Country Club in Lee. Barbara leaves her son, Brian L. Tanner of Sioux Falls, S.D., three daughters; Ellen A. Liston and her husband, Robert, of Wilbraham, MA, Teresa M. Decker and her husband, Larry, of Lenox, and Colleen M. Jones and her husband, Scott, of Lee. She also leaves seven grandchildren; Jason Tanner, Sarah Jennings, Maureen Decker, Emily Wood, Robert Liston III, Morgan Jones and Abigail Jones, as well as five great-grandchildren; Max, Devon, Julia, Hunter and Hadley. In addition, Barbara is survived by one brother, Charles Lloyd of CA., two sisters Nancy Farrant of CA and Christine Griffith of AK, and her devoted aunt, Sr. Mary Ward SSJ of West Springfield. She was predeceased by her son, Scott Tanner in 1987, and her brother Gregory Lloyd. A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Barbara Tanner will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Vincent dePaul Church in Lenox Dale, MA with the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Lenox. Visiting hours at the Kelly Funeral Home will be on Wednesday, January 29, 2015 from 4:30 until 7.
