Obituary

Catherine D. Haywood, 66, of Lee, passed away on October 22 at UMASS Medical Center in Worcester. She was born on July 7, 1960, to the late Howard and Sandra (Lewis) Bradford.

Cathy married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Haywood on July 10, 1983. She spent much of her childhood in Calais, Maine, where she graduated from Calais High School in 1978. Throughout her life, she had the opportunity to experience many different places. During her childhood, her father's work took the family to various locations. Later, her husband's service in the United States Air Force brought her to Florida, Virginia, Japan, New York and California, all before returning back to Lee in 1998.

Over the years, Cathy held several positions, including working in retail at the Lee Outlet Village. She worked for many years at the Community Health Program in Great Barrington where she retired from in 2023.

Cathy enjoyed quilting. Many received her hand made bags, potholders, baby quilts and full-size quilts. If you were a recipient of one, know that it was made with love. She loved to quilt and shared with all. She also enjoyed bowling, and spending time with her friends playing Bunco. Although soft-spoken by nature, those who knew her best, particularly her family and close friends, knew she was not always so quiet. She treasured her family and the friendships she developed, and the time spent with those closest to her. She also had a love for the New England Patriots. When a game was on, her world stopped.

Cathy is survived by her two sons Robert Haywood (Fernanda) of Becket and Michael Haywood of Lee. Her sister, Vivian Kish of Springfield, GA; her sisters-in-law, Kathleen O'Brien of Lenox, Lisa Bowers (David), Susan Gore (Richard) of Lee, Janice Haywood of Vernon, CT, and Susan Bradford of Montgomery AL. Two brothers-in-law, Lincoln and Anthony Haywood of Lee. Also, many cousins, nieces and nephews, who adored her and cherished her.

Cathy was predeceased by her daughter Renee Lynn Haywood, her three brothers, Brian, Daniel, and William "Billy" Bradford; her sister, Wendy Reeve; and her brothers-in-law, Paul Haywood and Alan Reeve.

Cathy was an active and devoted member of Grace Church, an Episcopal Community in the Southern Berkshires. Her faith and commitment to her church community were important parts of her life. She especially enjoyed serving as an acolyte, a member of the Altar Guild and a former member of Grace's Vestry. She volunteered at the Lee Food Pantry for many years. She was happy to serve.

Funeral services for Cathy will be held on Friday, October 30, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Stockbridge, at 11:00, with burial to follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Lee. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lee Food Pantry, in care of the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main Street, Lee, MA 01238.
