Eleanor Louise Monette Perusse was called to join her loved ones who passed away before her on July 27th, at the glorious age of 90. Born to Bertha Louise Brissette Monette and Fred J. Monette on April 11, 1928, in Springfield MA, Eleanor grew up in the Springfield area. In the eyes of her children, Eleanor was considered a pioneer, as she followed and supported her husband's dream to leave the urban life of Springfield, MA behind and to settle in the little town of Becket. With a young family in tow, they moved to the hunting cabin on 27 acres which, over the next 60 years, would be transformed into the Perusse family homestead. It was with great labors of love, strength, and perseverance that Eleanor and her late husband, William E. Perusse Jr. (known to all as Bill), hand dug the cellar hole for the foundation where the family home still sits today. And it is here, at this place on top of Benton Hill, that holds the life and times of Eleanor. It is where she and Bill raised eight children and entertained family from near and far. It is where Eleanor formed life-long relationships with the people in her community, many of whom her children still remain connected with today. It is where hard times were overcome and challenges were faced with strength and perseverance. Here, on Benton Hill, every joyous occasion was celebrated and lifetime memories were made. Eleanor will be remembered for her love of life, dedication to her family, wonderful sense of humor, sassy spirit, and her love of playing the spoons at every opportunity. Her family was her best audience and always applauded for an encore. Eleanor leaves her brother, Edward Monette and his wife, Connie, of Agawam. She leaves her 8 children: John and his wife, Lucy, of Becket, Albert and his wife, Sue, of Pittsfield, Norman and his wife, Vivianne, of San Antonio, TX, Nancy Willey and her husband, David, Richard and his wife, Tina, Laurie Kisselbrock and her husband, Mike, Mark and his wife, Shannon, all of Becket, and Thomas and his wife, Nadine, of Dalton. Eleanor also leaves 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and sister and brother in-laws. Eleanor was predeceased by her beloved husband, William E. Perusse Jr., her siblings: Freddy, Doris, Robert, Arthur, Gloria, and Phyllis, and her beloved granddaughter, Jessica Beckwith Ochs. Funeral Notice: A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 10:30 am at the Becket Federated Church, 3381 Main St., Becket, MA. A private burial will be held by the family. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of the Berkshires for the support and kindness shown to both Eleanor and the family. The very things Eleanor used to build the foundation of what was to become the Perusse family homestead- strength found in love, family, and perseverance- are what she now leaves as her legacy. She will be dearly missed.
