Francis E. Clark, Sr., 91, of Pine Street, South Lee, died Monday, July 17, 2017 at home with his family at his side. Francis was born in Tyringham on May 31, 1926, the son of Wilbur and Carrie McCarthy Clark. He was educated in the Tyringham School. Mr. Clark proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. After the service, he worked on the Farnham Farm and Kimball Stables in Lenox. Mr. Clark married the former Betty Farnham on June 1, 1957. He had most recently worked as a logger for several area loggers and retired from Borgnis and Sons in Lenox Dale. Francis enjoyed horse pulling and was the New England Heavy Weight Champion in 1953 at the Northampton Fair. Besides his wife, Betty, Mr. Clark leaves behind three sons: Francis E. Clark, Jr. and his wife Jennie, James S. and Dale A. and his wife Linda; five daughters: Terrie L . Gardino and her husband Ray, Gail E. Guarda and her husband Carmello, Jean M. Robbins and her husband Wayne, Karen L. Robarge and her husband Randy and Lori B. Decker and her husband Dennis; his grandchildren: Joseph and Jennifer Gardino, Ellie and Buddy Clark, James Clark, Dale Jr., and Matthew Clark, Michelle, Dominic and Christopher Guarda, Samantha, Nicole and Anthony Robarge, Katilyn and Brooke Decker, Jamie Hunt and Erica Baczek; one great-granddaughter, Madison Gardino. He also leaves behind his brother, T.Martin Clark. Francis was predeceased by his brothers: Wilbur, James, Clifton, Donald and Robert; and his sister, Betty Smith. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 11AM at the Kelly Funeral with Pastor Van, officiating. There will be a Calling Hour from 10 AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Tyringham Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Tyringham Cemetery Fund in care of the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
