Helena A. Kennedy "Pat" Tacy of Lenox, 99, died Monday, October 5th at the Kindred Nursing and Rehab Center at Laurel Lake in Lee. Pat was born March 31, 1916 in Ancram, NY to Thomas F. Kennedy and Mary E. Hinsdale. She attended St. Mary's School in Lee and Lee High School. She graduated from North Adams Teacher's College in 1939. She married William P. "Bud" Tacy on October 26, 1943 at St. Mary's Church in Lee. Pat served on the Rationing Board during World War II and served on the Otis School Committee for six years. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Otis Central School for seven years. She then taught first and second grade in South Lee. When South Lee School closed she moved to Lee Central School where she taught first grade for a total of twenty years. Pat lived in Otis and then moved to Greenwater Pond in Becket where she and Bud built a new home. They then moved to Lenox and wintered in Venice, FL for 25 years. Pat was a member of St. Mary's Church in Lee. Pat is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, William "Bud" Tacy, two daughters; Patricia Shapiro and her husband Robert of Attleboro, MA and Roberta "Bobbie" Dus and her significant other Rick Callahan of Dalton, MA. Pat also leaves behind 5 grandchildren; Teresa Bills and her husband Mark of Pittsfield, Michelle Zeuschner and her husband Tim of W. Hartford, CT, Lora Kozlowski and her husband Brennen of Pittsfield, MA, Wendy Leveillee and husband Paul of North Attleboro, MA, Peter Dus of Hancock; 5 great-grandchildren; Karissa and Josh Kozlowski, Rebecca and Paul Zeuschner and Alexandra Bills. Pat was predeceased by 2 sisters; Madeline Lorretta and Ellen Fairfield and 1 brother, John Kennedy. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct 9th, at 10:15 from the Kelly Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Mary's Church in Lee. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Lee. Visiting hours will be Thursday, Oct 8th, from 4 - 7 PM at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Pat's memory to the Otis Ambulance Fund in care of the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main Street, Lee, MA 01238.
