Jean Marie White of Stockbridge died suddenly on January 9, 2023 at Berkshire Medical Center due to complications from Covid.

Jean was born March 22, 1930 in Concord, the youngest of four children born to Robert White and Elizabeth (Scully). She lived in Acton, MA with her family until 1960 when she moved to Stockbridge to reside with her dear cousin Lilian Rathbun, who predeceased Jean in 1994. She worked at the American Institute of Economic Research (AIER) for 48 years until her retirement at the age of 79.

Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by her siblings Irene F. McLaughlin, Phyllis K. Sprague and George E. White. Jean is survived by her nieces Catherine Miller (Andrew) and godchild Maureen F. McLaughlin Williams (Raul) as well as cousin Dr. Robert Clemons (Marjorie). She leaves behind many close friends: Kerry Lynch, who faithfully called her daily, Constance Montgomery and Catherine Buffoni. Her two dear friends Eileen Hale Byron and Michael Brazell predeceased Jean.

With tremendous gratitude and love we thank Serwaah Akoto, Jean's caretaker and friend, for her love and care of Jean allowing Jean to age gracefully and safely in the comfort and security of her own home.

Please remember Jean for her hardworking and independent spirit and her love of Budweiser, the Clydesdale horses, puzzles, teddy bears,  and bird-watching while sitting on her back porch.

Funeral liturgy for Jean White will be celebrated on Friday, January 26, 11AM at St. Joseph Church in Stockbridge. Burial will be held at a later date. As per Jean's wishes there are no visiting hours.

In lieu of flowers, Jean would appreciate donations to her beloved Stockbridge Library who made home deliveries of Jean's favorite authors. Checks written out to the library may be mailed in care of the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
