Joseph R. "Jody" Furer, 50, of Laurel Street in Lee died Thursday morning. Jody was born on January 30, 1965 in New York the son of the late Charles W. and Mary Collins Furer. He moved to Lee with his family in 1974. He attended Lee Elementary Schools, Lee High School and Monument Mountain High School graduating in 1986. He worked at Friendly's Restaurant in Lee and Gt. Barrington and was currently employed at Dresser Hull Company in Lee where he worked as a Hardware Assistant. He was also a very enthusiastic competitor in the Special Olympics. Jody is survived by two brothers: Thomas Furer and his wife Margaret Ann of Florida and Michael Furer and his wife Pat of New York. Three sisters: Penelope Beale and her husband Butch of Florida, Karen Ingram and her husband Tom of New York and Sheila Bell and her husband Sam of England. He is also survived by Michael Vogt who was Jody's care giver for twenty years along with several nieces, nephews, relatives and numerous friends. Besides his parents he is also predeceased by a brother Charles W. Furer and a sister Mary Elizabeth Mulhern. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday April 15th at 11 AM at St. Mary's Church in Lee. Burial will be a private family affair in New York at a later date. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday evening from 4-7 PM at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee.
