Mary A. Murray, 94, of Lee, died peacefully at home, Thursday morning, with her family by her side. Mary was born in Lee, July 18, 1924, the daughter of Battesta and Anna Grumolato Montini. A lifelong resident, Mary was educated in the Lee schools and graduated from Lee High School, Class of 1942. After high school, Mary went to work at General Electric as a lathe machine operator. Later, Mary was employed by the Massachusetts RMV, from where she retired after 30 years of service. Mary married John W. Murray, Sr., on October 12, 1953 at St. Mary's Church in Lee. Mr. Murray died on their 54th wedding anniversary in 2007. Mrs. Murray enjoyed travelling the world with her husband and family after retirement. She delighted in baking and the joy of a delicious dessert. Most especially though, Mrs. Murray loved spending her time surrounded with family, and held her granddaughters close to her heart. Mrs. Murray leaves behind her son, John Murray, Jr. and his wife, Katherine, of Suffield, CT; her daughter, Michele Maguire and her husband, Thomas, of Sudbury, MA and her four granddaughters: Alison, Elizabeth, Kaileigh and Anne. Besides her husband, Mrs. Murray was predeceased by her sister, Amelia Zatorski and brother, Tulio Montini. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 27th, 10AM at St. Mary's Church with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Brian McGrath, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. In keeping with Mrs. Murray's wishes, there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to either Hospice Care in the Berkshires or St. Mary's Church in care of the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
