Michael A.
Digrigoli
Aug 11, 1943 — Sep 18, 2026
West Stockbridge
Michael Angelo DiGrigoli, 83, passed away on September 18, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and a life defined by hard work, humility, generosity, and devotion to family.
Michael was born on August 11, 1943, the son of Michael Joseph and Alice (Zaccarini) DiGrigoli. He grew up in Lee and graduated from Lee High School in 1961.
At 18, Michael began working for the Kimberly-Clark Corporation, where he spent the next 43 years, first as a millwright and later in quality control. He was known for his incredible work ethic, ingenuity, and the pride he took in doing every job well.
In 1964, Michael married the love of his life, Elizabeth "Liz" D'Aniello. He moved to West Stockbridge, where he and Liz built their life together, raised their three children, Denise, Donna, and Michael Jr., and shared 62 years of marriage. West Stockbridge became Michael's home in every sense of the word, a community he loved and remained deeply connected to throughout his life.
After retirement, Michael worked as a caretaker for several clients throughout Berkshire County, often bringing his brother, brother-in-law, nephews, and other family members along on projects. He loved working with his hands and was happiest when he had something to do, whether caring for his own home or painting, repairing, and tackling projects at his children's homes.
Family always came first. Every Tuesday, Michael would bring his mother Alice, lovingly known as "Gram DiGrigoli," to their home for coffee, dessert, and a visit.
Michael shared a special bond with his sister Barbara and brother Peter that extended to their spouses, Buddy and Pat. Together, the six became affectionately known as "The Six Pack," enjoying many adventures, including annual trips to Florida and a memorable trip to Canicattì, Sicily.
Michael enjoyed softball in his younger years and coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball in West Stockbridge. He loved playing golf and family gatherings, where he could often be found playing horseshoes, darts, bocce, or pepper with the kids. He also took great pride in watching his children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren play sports.
Michael had a lifelong love of horse racing, whether watching the Triple Crown races in the sunroom with family and friends, making trips to OTB, or enjoying the annual Saratoga bus trips with "Alice's Gang," affectionately named after his mother.
Skiing was another great passion. After retiring from the mill, Michael became a ski instructor at Jiminy Peak and proudly taught all five of his grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, his daughter-in-law, and other family members, to ski.
Above all, Michael cherished his family. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart. They will remember the big things, like learning to ski with Grampy, and the little things that were unmistakably him, including the Chap Stick and cough drops that never seemed far from reach. He also dearly loved his many nieces and nephews.
Michael leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Elizabeth DiGrigoli; his children, Denise DiGrigoli Amuso of Fairfield, Connecticut, Donna DiGrigoli of Lenox, Massachusetts, and Michael DiGrigoli Jr. of Naples, Florida; son-in-law Troy Amuso; daughter-in-law Paula DiGrigoli; grandchildren Ava Amuso, Isabella DiGrigoli, Rocco Piretti, Andres DiGrigoli, and Michael Piretti; his sister, Barbara Thomson; brother, Peter DiGrigoli; brothers-in-law John and Victor D'Aniello; sister-in-law Lorraine D'Aniello; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
