Ann Louise Belanger, daughter of Lazzaro and Alice Macchi Buffis, passed away on Wednesday, September 29th, surrounded by friends and family at Fairview Hospital. She was born on October 26, 1949, and graduated from Lee High School in 1967. Ann studied at St. Francis Hospital, in Hartford, CT, where she became a licensed X-ray Technician. She worked at Berkshire Orthopedics for twenty years and went on to become office manager at East Mountain Medical where she retired in 2011.
Ann was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Peter’s Church in Gt. Barrington, a member of the Rosary Sodality and a volunteer at St. Peter’s Food Pantry. Socially she was a member of the Thursday Morning Club and Dining for Women. She also was an avid equestrian, taking part in many competitions. Later in life she became a member of Curl Berkshires curling club and the Norfolk, CT curling club. Ann enjoyed kayaking, cross country skiing, walking her dog, Murphy and especially day tripping with her social club the SIPPIRS.
Ann is survived by her husband, Roger Belanger of Gt. Barrington whom she has been married to for 49 years; her Mother: Alice Buffis of Lee; her son: Ryan Belanger and his wife, Victoria of Ft. Drum, NY; her grandson: Jamie Belanger of Ft. Drum, NY; her sister: Donna Skowron and her husband, Phil of Lee; her brothers: Robert Buffis and his wife, Michelle of Lanesboro and James Buffis and his wife Lisa of Lee. In addition Ann is survived by Tony and Maya Belanger, Tyrone and Linda Belanger and Alan and Polly Stedman. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Ann was predeceased by Robert and Mary Traversa.
There will be a Liturgy of Christian Burial on Thursday, October 7th at 10 AM at St. Peter’s Church in Gt. Barrington. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lee. Friends wishing may make donations in her memory to St. Peter’s Food Pantry or St. Peter’s Church in c/o the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main Street, Lee, MA 01238.
