Arthur W. “Buzzie” Wheeler, Jr., 94, of Lee, passed away peacefully at Lee Healthcare on April 17, 2023.
Buzzie was born April 16, 1929 at the family home in East Lee, the son of Arthur W. and Elsie Lasher Wheeler Sr.
Buzzie proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War then transitioned to the reserves and was honorably discharged in 1957.
In addition to farming, he was a 40 year employee of the local paper mills.
Buzzie was a kind and humorous soul, always quick with a laugh. He took great pride in his large lawn and flowers. With the “Lawn Ranger”, you could always tell where his property began and ended. Buzzie and Carol enjoyed long hours outdoors, watching their birds, and cherished time with beloved family and friends.
Both he and Carol were founding members of the Berkshire Hills Baptist Church.
Besides his wife, the former Carol Ann Cordonier, whom he married April 26, 1951, he leaves behind his son, Arthur Wheeler and his wife, Maggie, of North East, PA; his daughter, Mary Jane Hopkins and her husband, John, of Lee; his six grandchildren: Michael, Jason (Kati), Sarah (Jeff), Keith (Julia), Jared (Christine), and Justin; and his five Great-grandchildren: Evan, Avery, Madelyn, Ella, Owen, Sara, and Phoenix.
Besides his parents, and brothers, he is predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Meunier, of Liverpool, NY.
Funeral services for Mr. Arthur W. “Buzzie” Wheeler, Jr. will be held Thursday, April 20th, 11AM at the Berkshire Hills Baptist Church in Lee, with Pastor Doug Mann, officiating. Visiting Hours will be held at the church from 9:30 until 11AM. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to the Berkshire Hills Baptist Mission Fund and mailed to Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
