Audrey (Rose) Major

          Audrey Ann Major, 89, of Sheffield, MA, died Sunday morning at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

          She was born in Westfield, MA on March 1, 1932, the daughter of Frank and Orrel Waters Rose of Lee. 

          She graduated from Lee High School in 1950.  She worked for the US Navy in Washington, DC and at General Electric in Pittsfield.   On July 9, 1955 she married Thomas J. Major.  She later worked at Electric Boat in Groton, CT.  Her husband, Thomas, attended Northeastern University in Boston and became an accountant, eventually opening their own accounting firm in Great Barrington.  In 2019 their son, Patrick, took over the business.

          Audrey is survived by her husband, Thomas Major of Sheffield; her son Patrick Major of Westfield; one brother: Marvin Rose of Pittsfield and two grandsons: Sean and Ryan Major of Westfield.  A third grandson, Kevin Joseph Major, predeceased her in 2011 at the age of 19.  She is also predeceased by two sisters: Cheridah Rose and Winfred Murray Rose and one brother: Fenwick Rose all formerly of Lee.

          Funeral Services for Audrey Major will be on Friday, August 20th, at 10 AM at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee.  Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Chester, MA.  Visiting hours will be on Thursday, August 19th, from 4- 6 PM at the Funeral Home.  Friends wishing may make donations in her memory to KEVS Foundation, which is in memory of her grandson, in c/o the Kelly Funeral Home   3 Main Street   Lee, MA   01238.
