Barbara M. (Moore) Burtt

Barbara M. Burtt, 96, of Lee, died Monday Feb. 7, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. 

Barbara was born on the family farm in Loudon Ridge, NH, on Jan. 11, 1926, the daughter of Karl and Inez (Osborne) Moore. She was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield, NH, High School. She married Owen G. Burtt on May 11, 1945 in Lawrence, MA, and they were blessed with ten children.  Barbara was a gifted musician, playing the piano and singing with her daughters, and serving for nearly sixty years as the organist at Hope Advent Christian Church in Lenox, MA, where she was a member. After her children were grown, she worked as a home-health caregiver until retirement.  She enjoyed homemaking, sewing and baking, and especially loved spending summer days at Alton Bay Christian Campground, on Lake Winnipesaukee in NH.

She is survived by three daughters: Sandra (Bob) Bowden of Chatham, MA, Sherry (Jim) Jensen or Prophetstown, IL, and Michelle Perkins of Lenox, MA; six sons:  Keith (Johnnye) Burtt of Cabot, VT, Kevin (Carol) Burtt of Lake Worth, FL, Norman (Cindy) Burtt of Conway, SC, Brian (Cathy) Burtt of Lebanon, PA, Darrell Burtt of Lee, MA, and Duane (Paula) Burtt of Deatsville, AL. twenty-three grandchildren,  fifty-nine great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren (with two on the way).

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Owen, and one daughter, Charlotte Livingstone.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February12, 2022 at 10:30AM at Hope Advent Christian Church, Lenox, MA.  Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 4- 6PM at Hope Church. Burial will be private for the family at Fairmount Cemetery in Lee.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hope Church, where a memorial has been established to help fund its’ music program.
