Candice L. Cahalan, 46, of Becket, died Saturday morning at Berkshire Medical Center following a courageous seven months-long battle against the debilitating effects of sepsis.
Candice was born July 2, 1974 and was raised and educated locally. She was a 1992 graduate of Lee High School. Candi continued her education receiving degrees from Berkshire Community College and Springfield Technical College. Candi held various positions throughout her life, including Town Clerk of Peru, and most recently as a phlebotomist, traveling to patients all around the area.
Candi was a unique soul who enjoyed gardening, raising her chickens, and cooking up new recipes. She also loved traveling, especially to Mexico with the family, and enjoying a good music festival or concert. Above all, Candi loved playing with her beloved dog, Dell, and most especially, every minute spent with her daughter, Lainey Jane, and the love of her life and her caregiver, Corey G. Sparks.
In addition to Corey and Lainey, those left behind to cherish her memory are: her daughter, Teagan Cahalan, whom she loved endlessly; her Sparks family who always made her feel welcomed: Jane Sparks; Courtney Sparks and Antonio and Abigail; Christopher, Elizabeth and Sophie Sparks, and Carrie and Dan Decker and Riley, Bailey, Chase and Madeline. In addition she leaves behind her cousin, Shaun M. Patryn who had been a good friend to her throughout the years.
Candi was predeceased by her father, David L. Davenport, Jr.
In keeping with Candi's wishes, there will be a private graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter in care of Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
