Obituary

David H. “Briggy” Brighenti, 73, passed away, unexpectedly, Saturday, May 8, 2021 at BayState Medical Center.

David was born July 31, 1947, the son of Philip and Angelina Laurenti Brighenti. He was raised and educated in Lee graduating from Lee High School, Class of 1966. Briggy enlisted in the U.S. Army and was awarded two Bronze Stars for meritorious service in connection with military operations against a hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam. He consistently showed exemplary professionalism and initiative in obtaining outstanding results.

David worked for Girardi Distributers for decades then for the Massachusetts Turnpike until he retired after surviving a near fatal accident.

Briggy had a passion for fishing and especially enjoyed it when his son, Jason, accompanied him. Together they spent numerous hours on his bass boat in the summer and checking the tip-ups on the ice in the winter. David was an avid sports fan always rooting on his favorites, The New England Patriots and The Boston Red Sox. Briggy put special effort into his PGA Sunday 102 parlay. He also just enjoyed soaking up some sun while relaxing on his backyard patio sipping on a cold grog.

Besides his wife, the former Susan J. DiSimoni, whom he married August 1, 1970, those left behind to cherish his memory are: his son, Jason and his wife, Becky; his two brothers: Thomas and his wife, Rosemary and Peter and his wife, Melinda; his brother-in-law, Richard Cody; his sisters-in-law: Rosemary DiSimoni and her husband, Myron Stone, Lynn DiSimoni and Brook Hawkins. In addition, David also leaves several nieces, nephews, one great-niece and three great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, David is predeceased by his sister, Jeanne Cody, August 17, 2019 and his brother-in-law, James DiSimoni, January 15, 2016.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 4PM until 6PM. Masks and social distancing will be required. Please enter the building via the Main Street entrance and exit via the side door.
