David Peter Manion

          David Manion of Lanesborough passed away on June 11, 2026. Burial took place at St. Mary’s cemetery in Lee. Dave was born in Pittsfield to Ann Scarafoni (Manion) Means and William P. Manion on October 10, 1944. He was raised in Lee and graduated from Lee High School in 1964, where he was involved in athletics and played in the school band. He married Patricia Henry of Mt. Ephraim, NJ on May 5, 1967. Upon Patricia’s passing in June 2024, they had been married for 57 years.

          After high school, Dave graduated with honors from The Culinary Institute of America. He worked as a chef in New Jersey before joining the Air Force. He was stationed in Miyako-Jima during the Vietnam War.

          After returning to the Berkshires, Dave worked as a chef at many area restaurants, including The Red Lion Inn and The Pittsfield Country Club. Later in his career he worked as a meat cutter at  Adams Supermarket and Big Y for 25 years.

          Dave was an avid golfer and bowler. He won awards from The Professional Bowlers Association for bowling perfect games. He was a talented pitcher  and played  American Legion baseball. After high school, he was scouted by the Boston Red Sox. He loved music and played the trombone, bass guitar and horn in a local drum and bugle corps.

          Dave enjoyed travelling with his wife and friends. He took many cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean, and visited the Grand Canyon and the Grand Ole Opry. He enjoyed playing dominoes and listening to country and blue grass music, painting landscapes and cooking for family and friends.

          Dave was predeceased by his wife, Patricia. He leaves his daughter Beth Manion of Turners Falls, daughter Jeanne (Manion) Littlefield of Derry, NH, son Jeff Manion of Lanesborough, grandchildren Cameron LaCroix, Hannah (LaCroix) Marion, Avery Manion, Alyviana Manion, great-granddaughter Alayla Marion, sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Jack Comalli, and sons-in-law Kurt Littlefield and Jay Marion. He also leaves Greg Elbaum, Andre Landin-Malt, as well as nieces, nephews and many friends.

          Dave always had a smile to greet you with and a story to share. He was proud of his Irish and Italian heritage and blessed with a love of life and family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
