Dennis B. Forshee of Lee, passed away on Wednesday, October 2nd , surrounded by his loving family. He was 86 years old.
Born in Lisle, New York on April 21, 1938, he was the son of the late Lloyd Forshee, Sr. & Vera Forshee (Taylor.) Dennis and his family eventually moved to the Berkshires in 1952. He married his wife, the former Joan Lorette on December 28, 1957, at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church in Key West, FL.
Dennis proudly served his country from 1955-1959, serving in the Navy aboard a ship as a submarine tender. Upon his honorable discharge, he went on to hold several jobs during his career. He worked in various mills, he eventually became a police officer for the town of Stockbridge, Constable for Berkshire County, and was also a self-taught & self-employed sign painter for 45 years.
Among Dennis’ several hobbies, he was a man who enjoyed several verses in the Bible, most notably, “II Corinthians 5:8; To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” Dennis also enjoyed playing the guitar, and was fortunate enough to be self-taught. Dennis and his wife Joan also enjoyed teaching country line dancing to those who wanted to learn. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Cheryl (David) Slosek of West Stockbridge, Joyce (Raymond) Peebles of Pittsfield, Tamy Heeren and her partner John of Syracuse, NY; brothers Lloyd Jr. (Elizabeth) of Georgia, Daryl of Rochester, NY several grandchildren, including Kristen Peebles-Palmer and Kenley Palmer of Lee, Adam Peebles of Pittsfield, Samantha Peebles-Gaudette (Hunter) also of Lee, Katrina Slosek-Cardillo (Ricky) of Otis, Candice Slosek of Pittsfield and Lauren Heeren-Stevens and her father Keith Heeren, also of Lee, and great grandchild Jaelyn Joan Stevens of Buffalo, NY.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joan and a son, Dennis Forshee Jr., and brother and sister Richard Forshee of Florida, and sister Yvonne Martin of Florida.
Per Dennis’ wishes, there will be no formal services at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Care of the Berkshires, in care of the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main Street, Lee, MA 01238
