Donald Lucy, whose life was filled with love, laughter, kindness and generosity, left this world on April 26, 2026 at the age of 77. The hole he leaves behind will never be filled.
Whether you knew him as teacher, coach, fan or friend, you probably have a story to tell and we are sure he has one to share about you. Donnie moved through life with a gentle steadiness and a fierce devotion to family. He also never met a stranger, he would talk to anyone, anywhere and quickly make a friend. Donnie had a way to make every situation better, easier and found the silver lining. He always showed up for people and celebrated those he loved. His presence impacted everyone who knew him. The lights of his life are the grandchildren who always looked up to their Papa. The vacations, road trips and experiences they shared with him are held in the memories they have and stories they will tell. He said they filled his heart.
Donnie was a dedicated educator for 33 years for Southern Berkshire School District and coached Lee High School Football for many years. He owned and operated The Locker Room Sports Pub in Lee with David Eisenberg for many years with even more fond memories and laughs.
Those who left before him include his loving parents, Robert and Barbara Lucy, his sister Sarah Lucy and his granddaughter, Josephine Lucy. He leaves behind his brother Bobby (Susan) and their children Patrick (Amanda), Donny (Kourtney) and Hannah (Wes), and many great nieces and nephews in California as well as his sister, Jennifer McBurney(Glen) along with Jennifer’s children Jeb, Oren and Lydia. He also leaves his three children who he could not stop smiling about and of whom he was so proud. Martha (Richard) and their children Nina and Sam, Jonathan (Christine) and their children Thomas and Maggie. Ryan (Heather) and their children Ava and Mason. All who will miss him dearly. Donnie also leaves his loving cousins and their families along with Mary Moffat (mother of Jonathan and Martha) and Anne Lucy (mother of Ryan), countless friends, old and new.
A gathering to celebrate his life will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, where friends and family will honor the legacy he leaves behind. We will gather for a graveside remembrance at Fairmount Cemetery at 12 pm followed by an afternoon at Greenock to share stories, food, and remembrances.
