It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Biasin Polastri (Dot), 95, of Lee, MA on June 16, 2022 surrounded by her family. Dot was born in Pittsfield, MA on May 14, 1927, the daughter of the late Dominic and Mary Bona Biasin. She attended Lee schools. She worked many jobs, including: Hurlburt Paper Company, General Electric Power Division and Town & Country Travel with her sister Norma Kelly. But her greatest job was being a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
Dot married Paul P. Polastri on September 7, 1946 after he returned from active duty as a gunner in World War II. They shared 63 years of marriage before his passing on January 2, 2010.
Dorothy was a member of the Sons of Italy Lodge and Adoration Chapel at St. Mary’s Church. Family always came first to Dot. She was a loving, nurturing and supportive mom to Kathy until her death seven years ago. She was a doting grandmother to Kaitlyn and Bryan and fun-loving “MeMaw” to Kaia, Camden and Nori Dorothia.
She devoted her life to her family. Besides her family, her hobbies and interests included many cruises to the Caribbean with her sisters Irene and Norma, niece Christine and her cousin Lucy; trips to Florida and Cape Cod with her family; going to casinos to play slot machines; and polka dancing. She enjoyed spending time with the Biasin family at Camp Dom-Marie, word puzzles and bird watching from her back porch. Dot was one of a kind and will be deeply missed as the matriarch of the family.
Dorothy is survived by her granddaughter Kaitlyn Lockman Gustafson, and her husband William; of Stamford, CT and their three children Kaia, Camden and Nori; her grandson Bryan Lockman and his fiancé Sadie Kenyon of Amsterdam, NY; her son-in-law Scott Lockman; sister Norma Kelly; brother Francis Biasin; sister-in-law Elizabeth Biasin; goddaughters Christine Salice Clauss and Patricia Biasin Adams; her close friends and cousins Lucy Boldyga and Perina Buffoni; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dominic and Mary Bona Biasin; her daughter Kathleen Lockman; sister Irene Salice Gustavis; brothers Ottavio Biasin and Richard Biasin; brothers-in-law Raymond Salice, Henry Polastri, Donald Polastri and Jack Kelly; and sisters-in-law Barbara Biasin, Eileen Biasin, Gina Polastri and Gloria Polastri.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 24th at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Church in Lee, MA with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday, June 23rd at Kelly’s Funeral Home from 4:00-5:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of her daughter Kathy Lockman to Ocular Melanoma Foundation in c/o the Kelly Funeral Home 3 Main Street Lee, MA 01238.
Dorothy’s family would like to thank Elder Care Services, Mountain View Homecare and her family members who assisted in allowing Dot to live at home, with special thanks to Christine Clauss, Norma Kelly and Elizabeth Biasin for their devoted, loving care.
