Edward Michael Homich,84, of Lenox, Massachusetts, passed away on July 12, 2023, surrounded by the loving embrace of his three children. Born in Pittsfield on July 15, 1938, he was the son and oldest of five children to the late Michael Homich and Edna Britigan Homich. After living a few years in Pittsfield, the family moved to Old Stockbridge Road in Stockbridge, MA, where Edward (Ed) graduated from the former Williams High School in Stockbridge in 1956. After graduation he entered the United States Air Force and worked in the radar division being stationed in Japan and various locations within the US until being honorably discharged in 1962. Their after he worked as the wastewater treatment operator for Kimberly- Clark paper mills in Lee, MA, until his retirement in 1996. For a time, he also served as a member and the president of the mill’s credit union.
Ed married Betty Jane Touponce of Stockbridge, MA, on July 27, 1963, and together they remained in love, devoted to each other and happy raising their three children in Stockbridge, MA. He served on the Stockbridge volunteer fire department and was a local cub scout leader for the time his boys participated. He was also a former member of St. Joseph’s church in Stockbridge.
He was an intellectual man loving classical music, world history, science, and current events; a sports fan who enjoyed golfing and routing for the New York Giants, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and his grandchildren’s college alma mater basketball teams. He was witty, could converse on any subject and enjoyed meeting new people and always catching up with friends and family. He was described as a straight shooter and someone that always had a positive outlook.
Ed is survived by his wife Betty, their children Peter Homich and his partner Terri Wilbur, Christine Quetti and her husband David, John Homich and his wife Laura, and four grandchildren, Kevin Quetti, Matthew Quetti, Jason Homich and Avery Homich. He also survived by his sister Carol Hedding. He was predeceased by his brothers Richard and David Homich, and his sister Lynda McDarby.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, 10AM at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Stockbridge.
