Edward Pompi Obituary

Edward “Henry” Pompi, 91, of Lee, passed away on February 25, 2025, at Berkshire Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Lee on September 5, 1933, son of Angelo and Assunta Abaticola Pompi. He was educated in the Lee Public Schools where he was a dynamo on the basketball court.
Henry worked his whole life at Kimberly Clark Paper, retiring in 1996 after 42 years of service. Hard-working to a fault, he was drafted into the US Army where he served as a military police officer in the European Theatre during the Cold War in the early 1950’s. He was honorably discharged.

At heart, Dad was a simple man, never requiring fanfare or praise. He was a man who loved nothing more than tending his large garden, especially proud of his prized tomatoes. In his younger years, Henry could often be found casting his fishing line into Laurel Lake. He was a diehard fan of the NY Yankees and the 49ers. In recent years, he discovered his love of anything chocolate. However, he especially loved spending his time with his family. He was a cherished husband, son, father, Nono, and Farmer P. to all who knew him.

Besides his wife, the former Diane Doucette, whom he married on April 12, 1958, Mr. Pompi leaves behind his five children: Mark and Donna Pompi, Lisa and Jeff Brothers, Matthew and Kelly Pompi, Rosemarie and Thomas Sperlonga, and Sandie Pompi and Christian Goodchild; his nine grandchildren: Eric Pompi, Jillian, Scott and Benjamin Brothers, Dominick and Maria Pompi, Jacob and Krysty Gardner, and Samantha Sperlonga; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition, he also leaves his brother, John Pompi and wife, Marge; his three sisters: Patricia Eisenberg and her husband, Joe; Ann Marie Lucey and her husband, John; and Linda Croze; along with many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Pompi was predeceased by his brother, Cortland; his sisters: Gloria Salice, Emma Dicenzo, and Evelyn Sacchetti; his brothers-in-law: Robert Croze, Richard Salice, Mariano Dicenzo, Francis Sacchetti; sister-in-law, Yolanda Pompi; and his adored grandson, Nathan Pompi.

He will be missed beyond measure, but his legacy will live on in his family. Rest easy, Pop. We love you forever and a day.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, 11AM at St. Mary’s Church in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Per Mr. Pompi’s wishes there will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may send donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in care of Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
