Gerald Richard “Jerry” Baumann, 91, of Lee, Massachusetts passed away comfortably in his home on June 3, 2025, two years after his wife Eleanor, who died on February 18th of 2023. Jerry was born on May 28, 1934 in Great Barrington, MA to the late George M. and Louise M (Maier) Baumann.
After a two year deployment in the U.S. Army, a beautiful, blue eyed Italian girl, Eleanor Bartini Baumann, stole his heart and moved him to his new home in Lee, MA. Together, they raised three children, Jeffrey R. (Sandy) Baumann, Laurie (James) LoStocco and Michael Baumann. Jerry had four grandchildren, Madeline “Maddie” LoStocco, Christina Baumann, Jeffrey (Monica) Baumann and Nicole LoStocco, whom he fondly called his Precious Dove and who predeceased him in 2016, and one great-grandson Christian Masciale. He is also survived by his brother, M. Peter Baumann. Besides his wife and granddaughter, he is pre-deceased by his brothers Thomas W., James A, Paul M., George R., John F., Joseph P., and his sisters Patricia Ciolina, Ann Costa, Mary Whitbeck, and his twin sister Joan Clark.
Jerry was known for his dry sense of humor, and always enjoyed an attentive audience and a good party. If Jerry was not relaxing with Eleanor on their beautiful back porch, you could often find him “having a taste” with his friends and nephews at Bucky’s Tavern. In addition to watching the Red Sox, Jerry enjoyed hunting and fishing, and trips to Cape Cod, where he taught his granddaughters the love of deep sea fishing.
Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, June 10th at 11 AM at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Jerry’s family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 9 AM until the time of the service at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jerry’s memory to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or Extra Special Teas both in care of the Kelly Funeral Home 3 Main Street, Lee, MA 01238.
