Helen H. Curtin, 90, of Tyringham, MA passed away on Thursday, August 10th surrounded by her family at her daughter’s house in Sheffield.
She was born on July 22, 1933, the daughter of Ervin and Avis Palmer Hathaway. She attended Lee High School and later received a nursing degree from Berkshire Community College.
Helen ran the Tyringham Post Office for many years, she was a tour guide at the Mount in Lenox and was a LPN at the former Valley View Nursing Home in Lenox from where she retired in 1998. She was a member of the Tyringham Union Church, an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, she loved knitting, crocheting and reading. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
On March 13, 1950 she married J. Neil Curtin Sr, he died on January 13, 2015.
She is survived by two sons: John N. Curtin Jr and Gerald Curtin both of Tyringham; three daughters: Darleen Wilkinson and her husband Joseph of Sheffield, Molly Schaefer of Tyringham, Mary Errichetto and her husband Gino of Stockbridge; Many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. She is also predeceased by two sons, Christopher J. Curtin in 1972 and David P. Curtin in 1979, a daughter in law Sissy Curtin and a son in law Timothy Schaefer.
Funeral services for Helen Curtin will be on Wednesday, August 16th at 10 AM at the Tyringham Union Church. Burial will follow in Tyringham Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4- 6 PM at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee.
