Hugh C. Pecon, 86, of Lee, died Monday, January 17th at Berkshire Medical Center.
Hugh was born February 2, 1935, the son of Raymond and Lillian Johnston Pecon. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Irma Hubbard. He was raised in Lee and a Lee High School graduate. He attended AIC and graduated with a BS in Economics. After college Mr. Pecon enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served on the USS Forrest B. Royal. He was honorably discharged in 1963. Mr. Pecon worked for the former Berkshire Life Insurance Co. as a senior underwriter until his retirement.
Hugh was a proud, longtime member of the Evening Star Masonic Lodge. In his earlier years, Mr. Pecon enjoyed golfing, hunting, and flying. He was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics and the Bruins.
Besides his wife, the former Patricia Monachina, whom he married August 22, 1959, Hugh leaves behind his sister Shirley Pecon of Pittsfield; three children: Hugh C. Pecon, Jr., of Phoenix, AZ, Linda Leydet and her husband, Vernon, of Lee, and James Pecon, of Lee; three grandchildren: Vincent Leydet and his wife, Whitney, of Pittsfield, Amelia Pecon of Pittsfield, and Zylaysha Davis Leydett of Florida; his great-grandaughter, Neah Leydet, of Pittsfield; and many other extended family members and friends.
Funeral Services for Hugh C. Pecon will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022, at 11AM at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee with Rev. Cristina Rathbone of the Grace Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. A Visiting Hour will be held from 10AM until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to either St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Shriners Hospital for Children, in care of the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
