Mrs. Idamae Scaramuzzi, 95, a long- time resident of Lee, died peacefully Monday, August 19th at Berkshire Place in Pittsfield, MA.
Born in Pittsfield on December 27, 1928, she was the daughter of Ambrose and Ida Montour Jerome. Raised in Lenox in a large, loving family, she attended local schools and was a 1946 graduate of Lenox High School. She then was employed by General Electric Co. in Pittsfield and it was during this time she met her future husband, and love of her life, Louis. They married on August 22, 1953 and settled in Lee, where they raised their family. After the children were grown, she worked for several years in the Town Offices of Lee.
She and Louis were avid golfers and were long-time members of Greenock Country Club in Lee. Many wonderful friendships were made there. In their retirement years, they wintered in Port Charlotte, FL where they befriended many other “snowbirds” and were able to enjoy golf year-round. They were blessed with 56 years of a wonderful, loving marriage, until Louis’ death in 2010.
They were lifetime communicants of St. Mary’s Church.
She is survived by her three children: Susan Cutshall and her fiancé Dennis Lupi, of Salem, NH, Michael Scaramuzzi and his partner Leslie Mickle, of Pittsfield, MA and Peter Scaramuzzi of Litchfield, NH; three grandchildren: Matthew Cutshall (Rebecca), Emma Scaramuzzi (Pierre) and Joseph Scaramuzzi and two great-grandchildren, Brady and Carter Cutshall.
She is also survived by her beloved sister Dorothy Leibinger, sister-in law, Kay Jerome and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by brothers William, Robert, Richard and Edward Jerome and brother-in-law Arnold Scaramuzzi; sisters Eleanor Hamberg, Vivian Hopper, Mary Roy, Barbara Thompson and Joan Reidy. Her greatest joy was her big, loving family.
Calling hours will be held at the Kelly Funeral Home on Monday, August 26th from 9:30-11:30AM, followed immediately by her funeral service at the Kelly Funeral Home.
