Obituary

James William Bilotta, Sr., of Otis, passed away March 2, 2023 after a long illness.

Known as “Big Jim”, “Harv”, or “Pops”, Jim was born September 25, 1946, in Springfield, MA, the son of the late Vincent and Shirley Welch Bilotta. He spent his youth in Stephentown, NY and was raised by his father and step-mother, Lottie (Thomas) Bilotta. He is a graduate of Berlin Central High School.

Jim married his sweetheart, the former Carol Woodin, in 1968. He was a talented machinist, carpenter, and a great cook.

He is remembered by his loving wife, Carol; their three sons: James Bilotta, Jr. and his wife, Heather, Anthony Bilotta, and Vincent Bilotta and his partner, Betsey Loring; and his two grandchildren whom he adored: Christopher and Francis Bilotta, all of Otis. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Roberta Shakett and her husband, Lenard; his cousin John Bilotta and his wife, Maggie; as well as many friends in Otis.

In keeping with Mr. Bilotta’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Jim’s memory, may consider making a donation to either the Otis Rescue Squad or the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
