James Salice “Jimmy”, 70 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a brief but courageous battle with Brain Cancer. Born in Pittsfield July 7, 1953, Jimmy was a beloved husband, brother, father, and grandfather.
Jimmy was predeceased by his mother Mary Giarolo Salice, his father J. Victor Salice and his brother Tommy Salice.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sandy Tart Salice, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph Salice, and his two daughters, Danielle Fillio (Matthew) and Ashleigh Maroney (Michael). Jimmy adored his grandchildren, Noah Walker, Devyn Fillio, Ryleigh Fillio, and Eila Maroney, and took great pride in their accomplishments. Jimmy is also survived by many brothers-and sisters-in-law along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Jimmy had a fulfilling career that spanned many years. He was known as Mr. Mead by many, having dedicated a significant portion of his working life to the Mead Paper Mill. After his time at the mill, Jimmy continued to serve the community by working for the Town of Lee.
Aside from spending time with his friends and family, Jimmy adored hunting, fishing, four wheeling and taking his best buddy Marley for walks and rides.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 7th at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Lee. There will be no visiting hours or burial. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to Hospice Care of the Berkshires, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, or the Berkshire Humane Society in c/o the Kelly Funeral Home 3 Main Street Lee, MA 01238.
