Jane Rapelye Iacobacci was born on December 14, 1927 in the town of Hempstead on Long Island, New York. She was the daughter of Charlotte Bissel Ebbets and Warren Roosevelt Rapelye. Jane graduated from Hempstead High School and was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church in Hempstead.
For the first twenty-five years of her working career she worked in telecommunications for AT&T. She moved to the Berkshires in 1945. Before retirement she worked an additional 25 years at Canyon Ranch in Lenox.
Jane enjoyed hiking. Most especially she enjoyed hiking to Upper Goose Pond where she relived fond memories of the rustic lodge built by the members of the Mohikanuck club, of which her family were founding members. She was an avid reader, especially of U.S. and Native-American history. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution as well as the Huguenot Society of America.
Jane was a loving and devoted mother who is survived by her three sons, David Whittemore, George Whittemore, and Warren Iacobacci.
A private burial service will be held at the Otis Cemetery.
