Obituary

Judith Anne Williams, 82, of South Lee passed away peacefully on August 11, 2023 at Kimball Farms Nursing Center in Lenox.

Judy was born in Pittsfield on December 3, 1940, the only daughter of Alfred E Mange Jr and Dorothy Lockenwitz Mange. Judy's early years were spent in Lenox Dale and East Lee before moving to the Mange family homestead on Beartown Mountain in South Lee where she lived until marrying the love of her life, David G. Williams.  Judy graduated from Lee High School in 1958 and married Dave on July 26, 1960 in Richmond, Mass. Not long after, they started their loving family. She was predeceased by Davey in 2017 and is now back in his loving arms.

Judy was a homemaker and a stay at home mom until her youngest daughter was in the 4th grade. She was passionate about having a clean home and that's when she started sharing that passion with some prominent families in Berkshire County. Judy retired from cleaning houses in 2015, but could always be found tidying up. Her penmanship was unrivaled, and for many years, she hand wrote the daily logs for the Town of Lee Highway Department. Judy also had a knack for ironing and would iron second homeowner's “country” clothes during the week and then on the weekend, iron their “city” clothes prior to their departure on Sunday.

Judy was a truly compassionate and loving person who would make sure to prepare a lasagna, baked beans and/or baked goods with friends and family when someone was under the weather.

Judy leaves behind her grieving family. Daughters: Kathy Lane (George) of Lenox, Lisa Trase (Kirby) of Suffield, CT and Pam Ferris (Walt) of Becket; Five grandchildren: Katy Chapman (Scott Snyder), Michael and Daniel Lane and Samantha Trase (Tom Medeiros) and Corey Trase.  One great granddaughter and facetime buddy, Iris Snyder.  Brothers: Tim Mange (Ann) of Cheshire and Jerry Mange (Bobbi) of Monson.  Sisters in Law: Marian Belanger and Evelyn Wellington and Brother in Law, Joe Williams.

She was predeceased by her parents and three brothers, Alfred III, Dennis and William Mange.

Judy's family wants to thank the village of people who watched over her and helped keep her at home until she could no longer safely live there. A special thanks to her nephew Heamon Williams and his wife Tracy, and friends David and Michelle Renner and Dede Loring. We give our gratitude to the wonderful staff on the Windemere Unit at Kimball Farms and Hospice for their care and support of both Mom and us.

A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 17th at 10 AM at Fairmount Cemetery in Lee.  Visiting hours will be on Wednesday evening from 4-6 PM at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice Care of the Berkshires in c/o Kelly Funeral Home 3 Main Street  Lee, MA  01238 or volunteer your time to those in need.
