Karen Fay Obituary

Karen Lynne Fay went to be with the Lord Monday, February 5, 2024. She died peacefully at Fairview Hospital with family members at her side.
Lynn was born  in Milford, CT on April 28, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Myra and Kenneth Sheldon. The Sheldons lived in Cranford, NJ and Lynne graduated from Cranford High and later, graduated with a teaching degree from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, OH.
She married David Fay, a former US Marine, a year after she graduated from college, first living in West Haven, CT then moving to Cheshire, CT.
Mrs. Fay taught kindergarten for 41 years at Orchard Hills. She and her mother taught in different schools, but in the same town, sharing ideas, crafts, and fun activities.
Lynn enjoyed traveling, particularly Florida and St. Croix, where her mother’s ancestors lived for several generations. She and her mom visited and stayed an Indian Reservation and were able to send books left in storage with the assistance of Toys R Us transporting them to the school on the reservation.
At her retirement party, her fellow teachers remarked how she was in kindergarten 41 years and never made it to first grade! After she left teaching, Mrs. Fay and her husband moved to Otis, MA.
Lynne Fay was a highly regarded teacher, library volunteer and designer of small colorful crafts. She was always friendly and upbeat and most importantly, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She and her husband David, who passed away in 2017, also served as Eucharistic Ministers.
Mrs. Fay was able to remain in her own home until her death due in part from the support of her daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Brian Wegner, who live nearby, as well as as her sister, Jane Sharpe, of Newtown, CT and her daughter-in-law, Ann Fay of Naugatuck, CT.
Mrs. Fay and her husband had four children, nine grandchildren: Michael, Sarah, James, Kurt, Janice, Darlene, Keri, Crystal and Shawn and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, David, and her daughters, Terri and Kristie.
