Kathryn M. (Finn) Merwin

Kathryn “Trina” Merwin, 81, of Lee, Massachusetts, passed away on May 29, 2026. Born June 22, 1944 to Thomas D. Finn and Margaret M. Finn (Hayes), Trina grew up in Lee and graduated from St. Joseph High School in Pittsfield in 1962.

On October 8, 1966, she married Neil M. Merwin, building a life and family in Lee.

Trina’s working life was varied and community-rooted. She began her career waitressing at Friendly’s, then went on to work as a dispatcher for Lee Emergency Services and in various positions at BMC before embarking on a long career at Lee Bank. She also shared a decades-long connection with Tanglewood, having worked there in various capacities since the 1960s, most recently as part of the parking crew.

She was a dedicated home baker known for her beautifully decorated cakes, an enthusiastic walker who completed 5Ks, and a devoted animal lover — especially her cats. She treasured time at the beach, with Cape Cod a favorite escape. Her deepest travel love, however, was Aruba. After she and Neil first visited the island in 1985, they were hooked — spending most Octobers there over the years and building a circle of friends who became as close as family. Her love of music ran deep, with a particular fondness for John Denver and Andrea Bocelli. She was a proud and committed supporter of Special Olympics.

Trina is survived by her children, Scott Merwin and his wife Tish, and Stacy Mihlek and her husband Paul; nine grandchildren, Gina, Shelby (Jason), TJ, Michael, Mason, Ashley (Rob), Kristen (Mike), Kaleigh (Brandon), and Cheyenne (Wayne); five great-grandchildren, Shiya, Noah, Alex, Madi, and Kyle; her sisters, Patricia Deering and Ellen Sirois (Roger); her sister-in-law, Paula Finn; and niece and nephews Geof (Kirsten), Jyl, and Josh (Christina), and great-grand nephews Dan and Tyler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Neil M. Merwin; her parents, Thomas and Margaret Finn; her brother, Thomas E. Finn; and her brother-in-law, Ged Deering.

In keeping with Trina’s wishes, there will be no public services.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Hillcrest Commons and Hospice Care of the Berkshires for their compassionate care and dedication.
