With deep sorrow, we announce that our beloved mother, grandmother, and best friend, Mary Lynn DiGrigoli DeVarennes, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, in her daughter's arms and holding onto her grandchild Peyton's hand on October 27, 2021.
Born on July 22, 1946 in Pittsfield, MA to parents Prudence Panetti DiGrigoli and Carmelo DiGrigoli, she spent her life in Lee, MA. She graduated from Lee High School where she later returned as a Substitute Teacher. She also worked at Cork-n-Hearth, as a florist at Elm Court Florist, and then spent 28 years at the Lee Library Association.
She was also the owner of Sunshine Bookstore in Lee where she shared her love of books with the community she loved.
Mary Lynn was a selfless and giving soul, who always had her doors and heart open to anyone who needed it. She welcomed everyone in and was known as Mom and Nanna to many more than just her own.
Her daughter, Jen, was her best friend and she adored her grandchildren and great-grandson. She could often be found baking treats for them and celebrating every accomplishment they made. Her pride in them was evident in everything she did, her house full of photos and memories of their whole lives. Most recently she would be found wherever her great grandson was, playing whatever toys or games he wanted to play with his very favorite person. She also loved spending time with her daughter in Wells Beach, Maine, cozying up with a good mystery novel; watching NASCAR with her Son in Law; and creating her beautiful artwork with her cat Arabella at her side. Her life truly left a mark on all who were lucky enough to know her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John DeVarennes, parents, Prudence Panetti DiGrigoli and Carmello DiGrigoli, and brother Louis DiGrigoli (Donna).
She leaves behind her daughter, Jennifer Welch Heath (Juan Bermudez); sister, Ann Dobson (Bruce, deceased); grandchildren, Taylor Heath, Alyssa Heath, Peyton Heath, Ruby Bermudez, and Brayden Heath; great grandson, Colton; good friend and former son in law, Harold "Herbie" Heath III; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be a calling hour a Kelly Funeral Home on November 5, 2021 from 4:00pm-6:00pm with a celebration of life following at the Locker Room Sports Pub at 6:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations in her memory be made to the Berkshire Humane Society, in care of Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
