Michael J. VanZandt Sr, 67, died Sunday morning at his home on Prospect Street in Lee.
Michael was born in Pittsfield on September 5, 1956, the son of George Sr and Eileen Flynn VanZandt. He was a 1974 graduate of Lee High School and received an Associates Degree from Wentworth College in Boston.
Michael went to work for his father at George D. VanZandt Sheet Metal then in 1987 he started Michael J. VanZandt, Inc. which he owned and operated as a Millwright and Fabricator working up and down the East Coast.
He was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Lenox, enjoyed traveling and skiing and was passionate about family and helping others in need.
Michael is survived by two sons: Michael and Stephen; two Aunts: Carol Consolati and Ruth Canales; his Consolati, Flynn and VanZandt cousins; his nephews and many close friends. Besides his parents, he is also predeceased by his brother, George D. VanZandt Jr.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 18th at 11 AM at St. Ann’s Church in Lenox. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery. His family will greet friends at St. Ann’s Church from 10 AM until the time of the service.
