Milton North Obituary

Milton G. North, 81, of 250 East Street in Lee, died Sunday morning at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 25, 1929 in Pittsfield, MA, the son of George and Lucy Rice North. He attended Richmond Schools and was a 1946 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Milt worked at Troy's Garage in West Stockbridge. In 1958, he moved to Lee and worked at Park Garage and Lee Ford. From 1974 until 1993 he owned and operated North's Automotive on Canal Street in Lee. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was the Voting Machine Custodian for the town of Lee for 30 years, a life long member and past president of the Lee Kiwanis and a member of the Lee Sportsman's Club. Milt was well known by many for driving his Model - T in local parades, numerous weddings and several car shows. On November 18, 1950 he married Madeline "Sue" Harrington, She died on June 11, 2005. He is survived by two sons; David North and his wife Janice of Chesapeake, VA and Edward North and his companion Jeanne Brown of Lee, Ma. Two daughters; Susan North Patterson and her husband Vernon "Sam" of Vermilion, OH and Jean North of Lee, MA. His five grandchildren; Melanie North, Melissa North Drain and her husband Michael and Danielle, Michael and Taylor Patterson. His primary care giver and long time friend William Brighenti along with many nieces and nephews. Also his dog and companion Daisy. He is predeceased by a sister Elizabeth "Betty" Godroy. Funeral Services for Milt North will be Wednesday at10am at the First Congregational Church in Lee with the Rev. William Murphy, Pastor of St. Peter's Church in Gt. Barrington, officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond Center Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday evening from 4-7 pm at the Kelly Funeral Home.
