Nancy (Tierney) Fitzgerald

Nancy Fitzgerald (Tierney) age 88 of Meredith, NH, died Monday, October 16, 2023.

Born in Binghamton, New York on December 27, 1934, to parents Ralph and Arleigh Ives. She was a graduate of Binghamton Central High School and attended Keuka College (NY), and Syracuse University (NY), and graduated Waynesboro School of Nursing (VA).

She spent most of her career working in geriatrics. Nancy loved gardening and found great peace in creating new gardens in each new home, being sure to leave a dandelion or two, including Syracuse, NY, Waynesboro, VA, Lee, MA, and Wilbraham, MA. She was active in Scouting, politics, and volunteered for Hospice for 16 years.

Nancy is predeceased by her first husband Hugh Tierney (1989) and second husband Francis Fitzgerald (2019). Also predeceased by son Douglas Tierney (2005). Survivors include sister Sylvia Dingeman (James) of Alexandria, VA, son Dr. Brian Tierney (Joanne) of Loudon, NH, daughter Ellen Tierney-Jones (Daniel) of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren Chelsea, Collin, Colby, Alysha, Bradford, Arleigh and Benjamin; and several great grandchildren.
