Patricia O'Malley Obituary

Our beloved mother passed away peacefully on January 12, 2024 in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey at the age of 99.   Patricia Agnes (Boyne) O’Malley was born on December 23, 1924 in Lee, Massachusetts to the late Cecelia Thomas and Thomas E. Boyne.  She is predeceased by her husband Dr. John “Jack” Egan O’Malley (Captain USN-retired) and her brother Thomas Boyne of Lee.  Pat was a good friend to those who knew her and a loving, dedicated mother to her nine children: Kathleen O’Malley (Stanley Muchewicz) of Tucson, AZ, William O’Malley (Maria) of Phoenix AZ and Hope, ID, Jane O’Malley of Chatham, NJ, Ann Michalski (Ronald) of Wilbraham, MA and Davenport, FL, Susan Prewitt (Douglas) of Westland, MI, Maureen Keiffer (Briggs) of La Jolla, CA, Barbara Blizard (Ronald) of Mt. Laurel, NJ, Dr. Thomas O’Malley (Tina) of Mechanicsburg, PA and Jupiter, FL and Paul O’Malley (Nancy) of Mahwah, NJ.  Additionally, Pat is survived by 22 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Pat graduated from Lee High School and attended Simmons College in Boston.  In 1945 she and Jack were married, and she became a Navy wife.   Over the next years, she ushered her growing family to seven duty stations making homes in Boston, MA, Patuxent River, MD, Kensington, MD, Key West, FL, Bethesda, MD, Wakefield, MA and Mt. Laurel, NJ.  In doing so, she taught her children responsibility, kindness and to “pitch in”.  We are all most grateful for the love she gave us and the love she taught us. Pat remained sharp as a tack with a great sense of humor her entire life. She had a quiet elegance, knew when to speak but when to remain silent. Pat never raised her voice; her children never heard her yell. Pat enjoyed reading and watching the best Netflix programs; she loved chocolate, ice cream and cookies.  Most of all though she loved thinking about and praying for her 9 children, 22 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Her warmth and compassion touched the lives of all who knew her.

Patricia lived her life as a devout Roman Catholic   She worshipped for many years at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Moorestown, NJ. Her faith in Jesus and her devotion to God were a constant in her daily life. A funeral for Patricia O’Malley will be held at 10AM on Tuesday, January 23, 2024,  with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, Lee.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be on Monday evening,  January 22nd from 4-6 PM at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee.
