Paul Haywood Jr Obituary

Paul “Woody” Haywood Jr., 69, of Vernon, Connecticut passed away peacefully on Sunday, surrounded by his favorite people.

Born and raised in Lee, Massachusetts, Woody later made his home in Vernon, Connecticut, where he built a life filled with laughter, love and unforgettable memories. He was the beloved husband of Janice Haywood, proud father of Tiffany Haywood and Paul Haywood III (and his wife Jillian) and adoring grandfather to Austin and Avery.

Woody was also a devoted brother to Kathy O’Brien, Bob Haywood (and his wife Cathy), Lisa Bowers (and her husband Dave), Susan Gore (and her husband Richard), Tony Haywood and Lincoln Haywood. He was also an uncle to many, many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Woody was known for his larger-than-life personality and infectious sense of humor. Whether playing darts in one of his many leagues, spending a day on the golf course, or lighting up a room with his jokes and laughter, he had a gift for making everyone feel at ease. A passionate Pittsburgh Steelers, Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins fan, Woody never missed a chance to cheer on his teams. His love for his family was unmatched, and his presence brought joy and warmth wherever he went.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 20th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul’s Church in Lenox Dale, Massachusetts.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lee, MA.   There will be no calling hours.  In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Lee Food Pantry, PO Box 335, Lee, MA  01238.
