Peter Collins Obituary

Peter W. Collins 77 of Lee, passed away Monday, August 5th at Fairview Hospital with family by his side.  He was born in Pittsfield on January 31, 1947, one of 8 children to Robert M. Collins of South Lee and May Beswick Collins, Manchester, England. 
Peter attended Lee Schools and graduated from Lee High School in 1964. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and served from February 10, 1966 - October 31, 1969. He was an EN3 on the aircraft carrier the U.S.S America, and sailed around the world crossing the equator twice during deployment. After discharge he studied environmental science at BCC and UMASS - Amherst.  For 20+ years he owned and operated Green Thumb Lawn and Garden Service in Lee. Later in life he moved to Vermont and worked for Perkins Home Center in New Hampshire.
Peter was predeceased by his parents.  He leaves behind his loving family wife Lauren , daughters Emily & Mary and son Peter T. Collins of Vermont.  He also leaves behind his first born Erina Collins (Matt Davitt) of Lee whom he proudly raised and cared for, first wife Maureen Kelly Collins, whom he always remained friends with, and best friend Mike Ferguson of Metairie, LA whom he met during his time in the Navy and never missed a call from at Christmas time.  Along with his brothers and sisters, Roberta ‘Bobbie’ Collins, Kathleen (Jeffrey) Glener, Alice (Peter Putnam) Collins, Sandra(Bob) Andenmatten , Barry (Marie Bianco) Collins, Terrence ‘Tote’ (Theresa) Collins and Kevin Collins. 12 nieces and nephews, whom loving referred to him as Uncle Willie and 18 great nieces and nephews, plus numerous cousins here and in England.
A very special thank to the ER Medical Team at Fairview Hospital and to his sister Alice Collins for taking care of him until the very end.
There will be a Celebration of Life announced at a later date.
