Randall A. MacDowell passed away on December 20, 2024.
Born in Pittsfield, MA on November 28, 1944, to Pauline (Goldthwait) and Irving MacDowell. Randy grew up in Lee at the family homestead on Landers Rd. with his four siblings. Randy was educated in Lee and honorably served 4 years in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1968 as a Petty Officer 3rd Class, touring stateside and throughout Europe. Randy retired from Rising Paper Company.
Randy was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent endless hours at local lakes and brooks fishing, and hunting on the hill with family and friends. Randy enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots with his wife Charlotte.
Randy loved muscle cars and hot rods and was known locally as “Mopar Randy” for his passion for Big Block Mopar’s of which he always had one in the garage ready for a car show. Randy drag raced at New England Dragway in his younger years and he and Charlotte made yearly visits to Englishtown for NHRA events.
Randy’s greatest passion was his family. He married Charlotte (Thompson) in September 1981. Together they made a home that always welcomed family and friends, and it was the central point for family picnics and visits. Randy always kept a close bond with his daughters, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Besides his wife Charlotte of Lee, Randy leaves behind two daughters, Kathy (Todd) Shakley of Londonderry, N.H. and Michelle (Marlon) Araujo of Brockton, MA; his sister Jean Blake of Pittsfield, MA; and grandsons Casey & Jesse Littlefield, Michael Derek Salerno & Adam Shakley. Additionally, he leaves several sisters and brothers in law.
Randy was predeceased by his parents, brothers Richard (Dick) MacDowell, Kenny MacDowell and Robin MacDowell.
Calling hours will be from 4pm to 6pm on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee, MA.
The burial will be private.
