Richard Theilig Obituary

Richard Brian Theilig, 71, a resident of Lee, MA,  passed away unexpectedly at his home December 27, 2023. He was born on January 31, 1952 in Springfield, MA to Paul C. and Norma F. (Burgoyne) Theilig.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Robert P. Theilig, and a son Brian R. Theilig. He is survived by daughters: Michelle Amburn (James) of Pittsfield, MA, Melissa Hasperg (Kurt) of Williamstown, NJ, and Jennifer Daniels of Clayton, NC; his beloved grandchildren: Gavin, Sadie, Kendall, Carter, Aubriana, Audra, Ethan, and Jacob; his sister Bette Beane (Mark) of Asheboro, NC, and a nephew.
Rick leaves behind many beloved friends, fellow Joe’s Diner patrons and longtime hunting partners.
Rick graduated from Pittsfield High School and attended Berkshire Community College.  He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. After retiring from GE and Lockheed Martin Rick pursued his passion for drag racing and archery. He was a regular at the Lebanon Valley Speedway and won several races. He was a current member of the Granby Bow & Gun Club and The Stockbridge Sportmen’s Club. When it came to archery, Rick was the consummate professional. Not only winning several local and regional competitions, he would go on to win nationally, most recently 1st place in his division in the USA Archery Indoor Nationals.  All along this journey, Rick always found the time to teach and train youth in the sport as well as give any advice to those that sought it out.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Stockbridge Sportsman’s Club (to benefit youth archery), in care of Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
