Robert Gaul Obituary

Robert Walter Gaul passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, at the glorious age of 96, with his family by his side.

Born in North Adams, to James and Agnes Gaul, Bob attended St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School, and then attended St. Joseph High School in Pittsfield, where he won the Clement St. James award for student athlete. After graduating from St. Michael’s College in Vermont, Bob worked in the field of computer processing.

Bob and Diane married in 1961 and just celebrated their 65th anniversary on April 15, 2026. Both Bob and Diane retired from Mead Paper Co. in 1993, and spent 33 wonderful years between their homes in South Lee and Ancient Oaks, Okeechobee, Florida, where they made many new friends.

Bob leaves his wife Diane, his three children; Donald Gaul, Kelly Gaul, and Timothy Gaul, two granddaughters; Casey Wilton (Zach) and Megan Bailey (Travis) and two great-grandchildren, Hayden Wilton and Hunter Wilton. Bob was predeceased by his parents and four siblings, Emmett Gaul, Jim Gaul, Eileen Krause, and Mary Alyce Gaul.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 8, at 10:00 at Saint Mary’s Church in Lee, with Fr. Brian McGrath officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Saint Mary’s School, in care of the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main Street, Lee, MA 01238.
