Robert Lindquist, Jr. Obituary

 Robert E. Lindquist, Jr., 75, of Dunnellon, FL, formerly of Lee, MA passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024 at the HCA Florida Ocala Hospital.   While playing golf at The Preserve Golf Club in Dunnellon on Sunday, March 10 he suffered a stroke from which he was unable to recover.

Bob was born on June 21, 1948 in Norwalk, CT, the son of Robert Sr. and Evelyn Kent Lindquist.  He graduated from Suffield High School in 1966.   After graduation he entered the U. S. Army and served as a motor pool mechanic from 1967 to 1969 during the Vietnam War.  He was stationed in South Korea.  Upon his honorable discharge as a Specialist he joined his father’s business Robert E. Lindquist and Son, an automotive shop / gas station in Southwick, MA.

Bob moved from West Suffield to Lee, MA in 1973 where he owned and operated Bob’s Automotive on West Park Street until his retirement in 2013.  During the mid-1970’s to mid-1980’s he spent many Sunday afternoons at Lebanon Valley Speedway where he drag raced in both the Pro Class and Heavy Class, winning multiple first place finishes.  In the mid-1980’s he changed hobbies, took up golf and became a member of the Skyline, Wahconah, Greenock and Preserve Country clubs over the next 40 years.  Bob also bowled in the Friday Night Men’s League at Lee Bowling Lanes for many years.

 Those left behind to honor Bob’s memory are his partner, Lois Huntley and her daughter Brandie of FL; his son Ronnie Paul Lindquist and his family of FL; his daughter Amy Lindquist, her partner Lucas Benjamin and her mom, Cindy Buck of MA; his brother, Stephen Lindquist and his family of CT; and his sister, Barbara Lindquist and her family of CT.  Bob was predeceased by his parents Bob and Evelyn Lindquist and his brothers Christopher and Kevin Lindquist all of West Suffield, CT.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday afternoon from 3-5 PM at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee.  A Celebration of Life will follow at Greenock Country Club at 5:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association in care of Kelly’s Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA  01238.
