Ruth A. (Dorbath) Crawford

On Wednesday, March 31, 2021, Ruth A. Crawford, of Lee, Massachusetts, passed away at age 91.

Ruth was born on June 21, 1929 in Norwalk, CT to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dorbath.  Ruth worked at her father’s bakery, Lee Bakery, as a young woman and kept her passion for baking throughout her life – baking cakes for every occasion for family, friends and semi-professionally. She also worked at Lee Price Chopper for almost 40 years and retired at age 83.

On July 28, 1947, she married William H. Crawford, together they raised three sons: Bill, Guy and Scott, and three daughters: Snookie, Lisa and Kelly.  

Ruth’s husband, Bill, her son, Scott, and her sister, Yutta Baker, all predeceased her.  

In addition to five children, Ruth is also survived by seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and her cousin, Kurt Dorbath of Arizona.

A private funeral service will be held at the Kelly Funeral Home.  Due to the current public health situation, there will be no calling hours.  A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday April 2, 2021 at Fairmount Cemetery, to which everyone is welcome.   A remembrance gathering for Ruth’s family and friends will be announced at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society, the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter or the Salvation Army in c/o the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main Street, Lee, MA   01238.
