Sally Jane Dunn, 74, passed away peacefully at Kimball Farms in Lenox on July 16. It was the exact day her mother had passed away seven years earlier. Born and raised in Lee, Sally was a graduate of St Mary's School, Lee High School and Emmanuel College in Boston.
Sally had a very strong faith all her life. At Emmanuel she formed deep lifelong friendships with a dozen women who called themselves "The Emmas". She taught in Archdiocesan high schools in Boston and in Brookline for several years. Later she spent many years working in real estate development and management.
Sally studied in Paris for a year and traveled throughout Europe. She continued to travel far and wide over the years nurturing her adventurous spirit. Sally enjoyed tennis and golf. She met her "Boston sister" Nahid, playing tennis; that relationship remains strong nearly 50 years later. She also kept in contact with many local friends. She valued and maintained her relationships. Above all, Sally was a woman of faith with a kind, gentle, thoughtful, generous spirit and a great sense of humor.
She was predeceased by her parents, William "Dunnie" and Nan Dunn; her brother, Michael; her close "Emma" friend Dorothy; and her special companion of many years, Alex.
Sally is survived by her sister, Susan (Ray), three nieces: Kim (Mark), Meg (Rob) and Brittanie; two nephews: William and Blake; and three grand-nephews: Jake, Luke, Gavin. In addition, she leaves behind her two former sisters-in-law, Christi and Cyndi, as well as several cousins.
The family is very grateful for the kind support and care given by many special people at Kimball Farms.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July, 30, 11AM at St. Mary's Church in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery in Lenox. The family will receive friends from 9-10:30AM at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee.
