Stephen Henri Buchauer

After a long battle with his illness Stephen Henri Buchauer was called home into the light of love and grace at 81 yrs. old on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Steve was from Valley Stream, Nassau County, Long Island. He majored in biology and minored in education at Queens College, and as a graduate he majored in Science Education. He taught Science at New Brunswick High School in New Jersey while attending Trenton State College majoring in counseling. He later moved to Richmond, MA, where he taught briefly in Pittsfield before finding his home at Averill Park High School in New York for 27 years until he retired in 2008. While teaching he received a master’s in computer based education at MCLA. 

Steve studied in the lay ministry program at Berkshire Community Church where he trained as an Associate Pastor. He took courses online at Andover Newton Theological Seminary. He pastored at the South Egremont Congregational Church, White Oaks Congregational Church, Hancock Baptist Church, and served in a variety of fill-in ministries. From 2013 to 2020 he was the Pastor at Morningside Baptist Church, and also served on the Pittsfield Area Council of Congregations. Steve also provided ministry counsel for a program at the Berkshire Dream Center. 

Steve is survived by his wife, Patricia, and his three step children, Joshua, Allyson (Ryan) and Lisa (Joshua) one grandson, Nicholas.
