Stuart Frisbie Obituary

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Stuart Donald Frisbie, a resident of Becket since 1979, in the early evening of June 30, 2026, at his home with family.

Stuart was born in Westfield, MA. on July 1, 1949 to Lena (Marcotte) & Frank Frisbie. Stuart attended local schools where he discovered his love of sports and excelled as the athlete everyone wanted on their team.  After graduating in 1967, Stuart earned a Master’s Degree in Literature, Art & English at Westfield State University.

If he wasn’t playing sports, you could find Stuart hard at work doing things like writing reviews, delivering newspapers, or mowing lawns.

In June of 1969, he placed an ad for yard work that would introduce him to Nancy, whom he married on December 19, 1970.

After joining the Marine Corps in 1971, Stuart and Nancy went on to live at various bases across the country until 1974. Their children, Nathan and Jessica, were born during this period.

After Stuart returned with his family to the Westfield area, he got back in to journalism, publishing interviews he conducted with several well known actors and artists.  He also went to work at Westfield State University as a professor specializing in English literature until the late 1980s.

When it was time for his kids to start school, Stuart & Nancy knew Becket was where they wanted to be. While Stuart was delivering papers for The Springfield Republican & teaching at the university, he began an additional route with the Berkshire Eagle. It wasn’t long before he was delivering to everyone with a subscription in the town of Lenox and beyond. Then, in September of 2025, Stuart decided it was time for him to retire.

Stuart enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, spending time with family, friends, his 4 granddaughters and 2 great-grandchildren. He loved spending time outdoors & vacationing to new places. He was predeceased by his wife Nancy (Dewhurst) and is survived by son Nathan, daughter and son-in-law Jessica and Fabrizio Perotti, his four granddaughters who brought immeasurable enjoyment into his and Nancy’s life; Melody, Kendra, Emmalyn, and Brianna Frisbie; great-grandchildren Liam and Paige Greenspan.

Stuart was predeceased by his parents Frank and Lena Frisbie, brother Keith, and is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Julie Frisbie, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services for Stuart will be held at Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main Street, Lee, on July 8th at 11:00, and he will be laid to rest at North Becket Cemetery following the service at the funeral home. Donations in Stuart’s memory can be made out to either the First Congressional Church of Becket or Becket Federated Church, both in care of the funeral home.
