Thomas Ashe Obituary

Thomas J. Ashe, 72, of Lee, died Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Berkshire Medical Center.

Tom was born in Little Falls, NY on April 29, 1950, the only child of First Sargeant James and Rose O’Hara Ashe. He was raised and educated in Little Falls, NY where he was a 1969 graduate of Little Falls High School. He was an all league selection in football his senior year and was also a standout track and field athlete holding the school record in both the shot put and discus at the time of graduation.

Mr. Ashe was employed at the Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth in Canaan, NY for 21 years and then started his own painting business in 1996 until his retirement.

Tom enjoyed following all New York professional sports teams as well as Syracuse University sports. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed vacationing on Cape Cod and Booth Bay Harbor.

Besides his wife of 51 years, the former Marianne Harrington, whom he married in 1971, those left to cherish his memory are his two sons: Kevin (Jorge) of Tucson, AZ, and Timothy (Jennifer) of West Springfield, MA; and his three grandchildren: Matthew, Joseph and Vanessa Ashe. He also leaves a special niece Renee Diodati Kennedy whom he loved like a daughter.  He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Donna Diodati and her husband Ron, and Nancy Passarelli and her husband Bob, as well as nieces Ronni and Rozalyn, and a nephew Christopher.

Visting Hours for Thomas will be held on Thursday, January 12th, 4-6pm at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee, MA. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 13th, 1pm at the Holy Family Parish, 763 E. Main St., Little Falls, NY.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Tom’s memory to the Lee Food Pantry in care of the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.

The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at the BMC Critical Care Unit for the wonderful care and compassion given to Tom and his family. They would also like to express their gratitude to Dr. Dan Cohen and Dr. Michael DeLeo for giving Tom an extra 21 years of life.
