Thomas J. Boyne, 91, died Tuesday at Kimball Farms Nursing Home where he had been a patient for a short time. Born in Pittsfield on September 27, 1931, son of Thomas E. and Cecelia Thomas Boyne, Tom was a lifelong resident of Lee. He attended St. Mary's School and graduated from Lee High School in 1950 where he jumped center for the 1949 Southern Berkshire Championship Basketball team.
Tom worked as a licensed electrician for Joe Burke Electric, William T. Lahart & Son, and Henry's Electric, retiring in 1996 as Electrical Forman for the Peter J. Schweitzer Division of Kimberly Clark. For 50 plus years he was a volunteer firefighter with the Lee Fire Department serving as an officer and longtime member of their muster team. He enjoyed snowmobiling and attending NASCAR races with his sons-in-law and friends. He enjoyed traveling to Italy, Alaska, Canada, and wintering in Florida with lifelong friends.
Tom was about to celebrate 72 years of marriage to the love of his life, Josephine "Irene" Naventi. They were married at St. Mary's Church on February 6, 1951. He leaves two daughters, Christine A. Davis (William C.) of Pittsfield and Nancy J. Mazut (Paul F.) of Becket; his three grandchildren, Stephanie D. Osterberg (Nic) of Cheshire, Nathan C. Davis (Shannon) of Pittsfield and Matthew R. Davis (Molly) of Buda, Texas; his five adored great-grandchildren, Isla and Madeline Osterberg, Finn, Liam and Brooklyn Davis. He also leaves a sister, Patricia B. O'Malley of Mt. Laurel, N.J. and several nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE- The funeral for Thomas J. Boyne, who died January 31, 2023, will be held at 10a.m. on Tuesday with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday evening, 4-6p.m. at the Kelly Funeral Home.
